Where in the world are you?

I am in Bad Mergentheim which is in the German state of Baden-Wurttemburg. This is just a little south of Frankfurt and North of Munich. It is a very small town that is about the size of Bend, Oregon. There is a huge castle here that you will see several pictures of. The medieval castle is named the Deutschordenschloss and was where the Teutonic knights lived around 800 years ago.

The history expands throughout the town with cobblestone walkways and streets to the enormous churches that are almost as old. It is mind blowing to hear the church bells and know that people hundreds of years ago were listing to those same bells.

Wine, did I mention wine yet? Well, this area is unique in that there are three different regions of vineyards that all intersect at this location. So along with the great beers of Germany there is a local wine as well. I have not tried it yet, but I am looking forward to it.
